Productivity standards should clearly define departmental and individual staff expectations, as well as performance and evaluation methods. The NCRA Registry Staffing Manual (Click here to go to NCRA's Web site) outlines specific productivity standards and suggestions for conducting time and motion studies for casefinding, abstracting, and follow-up. Conducting time and motion studies within the registry can help to establish internal productivity
standards and/or validate existing standards. These standards provide a basis for performance evaluations by allowing measurement of job performance. In addition, productivity standards data can be used to justify the need for additional staff or equipment
