Core follow-up data items for the Commission on Cancer (CoC)
of the American College of Surgeons approved cancer programs
are listed in the table below. The Standards of the Commission
on Cancer, Vol. II: Registry Operations and Data Standards
(ROADS) lists codes for these data items. The quality of survival
is an optional field that is coded for the patient's status
at the last contact. Quality of survival reflects the patient's
general status, not just cancer-related disabilities.
Most often, the Karnofsky
Scale or the
Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) Performance Status
is used to record the physical status of patients.
