STWS Home Module Home  Case Three: Melanoma Print

 

History 31 year old female with lesion present on right shoulder for one year.
Physical Exam  
  Dysplastic nevus present on right shoulder. No lymphadenopathy.
Remainder of physical examination was negative.
Imaging
12/10/04 Chest x-ray: within normal limits
Laboratory  
12/10/04 CBC, Differential and LDH were within normal limits.
Surgical Observations  
12/11/04 Excisional biopsy of lesion, right shoulder
12/19/04 Wide excision with 1 cm margins
Pathological Report  
12/11/04 Right shoulder blade nevus: Malignant melanoma, lesion measuring 5 mm in diameter, microinvasive, extending to a depth of approximately 0.38 mm, Clark's Level II Lesion extends to the edges of the specimen.
12/19/04 Wide excision specimen, skin right shoulder: There is no sign of neoplasm in the wide excision specimen.
